Watch a biker get wiped out on a Russian highway

The dash cam on this car was running just as a Mazda3 collides with a rider on an urban highway in Russia. The results…aren’t good. This is a pretty terrifying accident, so don’t watch if your squeamish if if your mother is in the room. The rider suffered a concussion and open fractures on his left arm and leg. What should he have done differently to avoid this crash? :continue:

How to outrun a helicopter on a GSX-R1000

Perusing Guy Martin’s facebook page this morning for info on his crash, I came across this video of him from last year’s race. Not so much a how to as it is a meditation on what happens when Guy avoids running into things, it’s a compelling reminder that the TT is just five days away. Still, we can devise our own guide based on the video. :continue:

Dirt Bikes over Venice Beach

Red Bull X-Fighters returns to America this weekend after a two week absence. The FMX event will take place at SoCal’s historic Glen Helen Raceway, which effectively birthed the sport as a spinoff of motocross racing. To promote the race, Ronnie Renner, Danny Torres, Keith Sayers and Maikel Melero (seen here) staged a little exhibition on Venice Beach. Sure beats roller bladers.

RideApart 4: a shocking truth

With 9kWh in its battery pack, nearly twice the capacity of the Toyota Prius, the 2012 Zero DS is the fastest, longest-range electric motorcycle to ever enter production. 84mph top speed, 112-mile range. Is that enough to make it practical, useful transportation? More importantly, can a bike that slow be fun to ride? :continue:
