Watch Robbie Maddison jump 378′ on NYE

Robbie Maddison and Levi LaVallee traveled a combined 790’6” as they jumped side by side across the San Diego bay during Red Bull’s No Limits 2012 NYE. On his way to a new snowmobile jump record of 412.6′, Levi LaVallee’s GoPro caught this amazing footage of Robbie Maddison launching his YZ450F ‘only’ 378 feet, just short of the 392 he jumped while practicing and Ryan Cape’s 391′ record. Watch as LaVallee’s other GoPro dismounts from the snowmobile upon landing and records a wild light show before coming to a stop on the astroturf. Does Maddison’s failed record breaking attempt make this any less awesome? We don’t think so.

Video: racer vs courier

Who’s faster in traffic, a professional motorcycle racer or one of Sao Paulo’s notorious Motoboys? In town for Red Bull X-Fighters, FMX star Robbie Maddison took the opportunity to find out. Robbie’s jumped Tower Bridge, gorges and mastadons, but this is probably one of the most dangerous days he’s ever spent on a motorcycle. :continue:

In this photo, Robbie Maddison lands a jump no-handed during the Brasilia round of Red Bull X-Fighters. The freestyle motocross event was attended by over 100,000 fans, setting a new record for the sport. To promote it, photos were also taken at the Corumba Falls and on the capital’s famous Esplanade.

Dirt bike over mastodons

No prehistoric animals were harmed during this photo shoot. No, those aren’t real life rusty elephants, they’re life-size sculptures of mastodons and dinosaurs created by artist Ricardo Breceda for Galleta Meadows Estate in Borrego Springs. Robbie Maddison visited the park to “practice for Red Bull X-Fighters, but we’re guessing this was really just an opportunity to take some bizarre images.

How not to land a drop-in

“I was like ‘this is going to hurt’,” Robbie Maddison told Australia’s Daily Telegraph. “I saw the end of the ramp, I could see I was going too fast so I leant right back to brace for it… I thought ‘this is going to smash me’, but I rode out of it, so I got lucky. It was a pretty brutal impact.” The drop-in apparently remains one of the most difficult jumps for the 29-year-old Australian stunt rider, he had a similar near-miss when he jumped off the 96-foot tall Arc de Triomphe replica in Las Vegas two years ago.

The highest motorcycle jump in the world

Photos: Jorg Mitter/Predrag Vuckovic/Red Bull Photofiles

Seperating the Peloponnesian Peninsula from the rest of Greece, the Corinth canal was carved out of sedimentary rock in an active seismic area in the early 1890s. At only 69 feet wide, it’s now too narrow for commercial sea traffic and hardly challenges Robbie Maddison‘s 350-foot world record for the longest motorcycle jump, but it’s walls are 263 feet high, meaning this jump does give the Australian the record for the tallest jump. Maddison actually reached at height of 312 feet above the water to achieve that record. > :continue:

Robbie Maddison backflips Tower Bridge

Early this morning, Robbie Maddison performed a no-handed backflip between the two open sections of Tower Bridge spanning the Thames in London. Intended to promote the upcoming Battersea Power Station round of Red Bull X-Fighters, Maddison approached the gap at 40mph and, unlike his step up at the Vegas Arc d Triomphe, he stuck the landing without drama. Robbie Maddison jumps 96 feet up onto Vegas Arc de Triomphe, injures hand dropping back down

As part of the Red Bull No Limits New Year’s Eve 2009 spectacular, Robbie Maddison jumped from ground level onto the 96-foot high Arc de Triomphe replica in Las Vegas. That’s pretty impressive, but wait till you see him jump back down. HD video follows the jump.> :continue:
