26 photos of the MV Agusta F3 in action

Snapped at what appears to be Yas Marina, these photos show the new MV Agusta F3 being used in anger. Reports from Europe, where MV is organized enough to actually put journalists on bikes, reveal that the 126bhp, 173kg (dry) triple remains…unfinished. Agility and performance are tempered by fueling so bad that maintaining constant speeds is reportedly impossible and misfires abound. Oh well, at least it’s nice to look at, which is what you can do in these wallpaper-sized images.

Watch as the MV Agusta F3 enters production

One of the most anticipated new motorcycles of 2012, at least among HFL staff, has finally entered production. The MV Agusta F3 isn’t exactly revolutionary, but it is bringing several new technologies to the sportsbike sector. It’ll be the first 600-ish bike to be equipped with performance-enhancing traction control and the first transverse engine production bike of any kind to come with a counter-rotating crankshaft. Watch as all 1,200 pieces are assembled in Varese, Italy. :continue:

MV Agusta F3 675: 126bhp, traction control, launch control, wheelie control, ride-by-wire

This is the most sophisticated supersport-class motorcycle ever produced. And we do mean produced, the MV Agusta F3 675 is finally entering production, a year after it was first unveiled. Was the wait worth it? Well, if 126bhp, 52lb/ft and possibly the smartest set of performance-enhancing electronics ever, all for the price of a Triumph Daytona 675 sounds good to you, then yes. Of course, there’s the looks too; the F3 is available in white, black or silver/red.

MV Agusta F3 Serie Oro, minus the photobombing random dudes

MV Agusta just released two official images of the 2012 MV Agusta F3 Serie Oro. That swingarm that Wes was hoping was magnesium? Nah, it’s just paint, silly. And those wheels that Wes also hoped were magnesium? Yeah, also paint. They’re actually forged aluminum wheels. Wait, so why is this thing expected to cost €24,900? Well, it does have a TTX shock and steering damper, radial Monobloc Brembo calipers, “Racing” discs, fully-adjustable Öhlins suspension, tig-wiedled chassis and subframe, plus fully adjustable rearsets and levers “carved from solid.” Ooh, carved from solid what? Hm, that part must’ve been left off.

Update: eight more images. :continue:

The first 200 MV Agusta F3s will look like this

These are the first ever images of the MV Agusta F3 Serie Oro, a special edition of the all new middleweight that will be available ahead the “base” model late this year. Where the regular MV Agusta F3 will cost just €11,500, this Serie Oro more than doubles that to €24,900. Justifying that premium will be top-drawer Ohlins suspension, Brembo Monobloc brake calipers, carbon fiber body panels, carbon exhaust tips and what appear to be magnesium wheels and swingarm pivot. :continue:

Video: MV Agusta F3 on track

French magazine Moto-Station has captured video of the prototype MV Agusta F3 testing at Circuit des Ecuyers in France. The 675cc, three-cylinder proprietary engine in the F3 makes 140bhp and uses a counter-rotating crank to reduce the influence of reciprocating mass on handling. And handling should be the €11,500 MV’s forte when it goes on sale this fall, as you can see in this video it’s radically small, even for a supersport. :continue:

This is what the MV Agusta F3 sounds like

15,000rpm redline. Three cylinders. 140bhp. Counter-rotating crankshaft. Three exhaust outlets. This is the first time we’ve heard an MV Agusta F3 running. It sounds good. Very good. :continue:

Why can’t you buy an MV Agusta F3 yet?

MV Agusta’s been strangely quiet since unveiling the too-beautiful-for-words F3 last November. What gives? Well, they’ve been hard at work making sure their product is going to live up to their promises. Equipped with technology like a ride-by-wire throttle and counter-rotating crankshaft as well as an all-new 675cc, three-cylinder engine, the MV Agusta F3 breaks new ground for the tiny Italian company. Word today is the engine’s already surpassing 133bhp on a test bench while revving to over 15,000rpm and that production is expected to begin in September with the first bikes reaching customers late this year. :continue:

How small is the MV Agusta F3?

Before it was unveiled, CEO Giovanni Castiglioni told us the MV Agusta F3 “will be the smallest supersport ever produced.” We saw the F3 at EICMA, but without dimensions and without any other motorcycles close by for comparison. So, wanting to see just how small this thing is, we decided to do a visual comparison between it and its big brother, the F4. The white silhouette you see above is the F3, super imposed over the F4. As you can see, it’s demonstrably smaller. :continue:
