HSR-Benelli launches Tornado-powered Jet Ski

HSR-Benelli launches Tornado-powered Jet Ski

A few days ago we ran a story on the new 308bhp MV Agusta Jet Ski and couldn’t imagine a more exotic personal watercraft. Until now, that is. HSR-Benelli has just announced a 342bhp Jet Ski powered by a v6 made from two of its 1098cc triples. Considering that previously a 250bhp supercharged ZX-14 motor powered the fastest, most powerful PWC around, these new Jet Skis should be incredibly fast and difficult to ride.

HSR-Benelli will launch the Series R at the Salon Natique de Paris on Saturday. Expect more information then.

We’re hoping that some of the money Benelli’s Chinese owners are putting into new models soon reaches their website. It’s woefully out of date, so details are scarce on the 2UE. We do know that it has a 756cc parallel twin, with a little less than 100bhp, and it’s set to go on sale in 2008. It looks good too, in a slightly bug-like way.

Expanding its product range is a good move for Benelli. The Chinese-owned Italian company makes lots of money from scooters, but its motorcycle range is young and troubled. Until now it has only featured two models, the Tornado and the Tornado-based TnT. By adding a supermoto, the company hopes to attract a new, younger audience that might some day upgrade to one of the more expensive models. We only wish they’d created something a bit more original.
