2010 Honda CB1000R: beige?!

We’ll admit, our first reaction to seeing the not-for-the-USA 2010 Honda CB1000R was, “WTF, beige?!” But after looking at the pictures, we think we actually really like it. Various shades of brown are a resurgent trend in the car industry — witness the brown Porsche Panamera – where they lend a classy, restrained feel to wild-looking vehicles. Beige has the same effect on the CB1000R. Where brightly-colored versions look a little piecemeal, the “Matt Vanguard Beige Metallic” paint emphasizes the bodywork’s crisp lines, makes the bike look like more of a cohesive whole and elevates it from just another disposable Japanese motorcycle into being a credible luxury good. Nice one Honda.
