2010 Honda CB1000R: beige?!
We'll admit, our first reaction to seeing the not-for-the-USA 2010 Honda CB1000R was, "WTF, beige?!" But after looking at the pictures, we think we actually really like it. Various shades of brown are a resurgent trend in the car industry -- witness the brown Porsche Panamera -- where they lend a classy, restrained feel to wild-looking vehicles. Beige has the same effect on the CB1000R. Where brightly-colored versions look a little piecemeal, the "Matt Vanguard Beige Metallic" paint emphasizes the bodywork's crisp lines, makes the bike look like more of a cohesive whole and elevates it from just another disposable Japanese motorcycle into being a credible luxury good. Nice one Honda.

if only it was available in the u s of a. honda fills me with hate.
Another Euro Only model I'll lust after...
I dig the biege color.
I like it!
The best beige paint job I've seen is on a Moto Guzzi Quota. Desert paint suits a dual sport.
Honda pisses me off to some degree.. every freaking bike I want is not available in the US.
Honda Transalp.. Would like to have it. NOPE!
This new Honda bike, Would like to have it. NOPE!
Well actually I want the Transalp the most..
This bike color scheme just looks very slick.
I'm sorry Wes, your usually good taste has left you on this one.
I did not know that one could make 1000cc's of excellent motorcycle power look gay, but Honda has managed it.
For shame
Funny--I was just asking myself,"why does Honda hate their USA customers?".
I started to think about it a little more, It's basically just a paint scheme in the end, which one could copy. So not such a big deal that its not coming to the US.
(although what I said about the transalp still holds true)
Just like the CB1000R another bike I can only dream may exist in the grey market hear.
Damn the euros get all the cool bikes.
That's not beige, that's "Titanium", lol. Get it right. At least it's not silver, err, I mean "Aluminum". Too many silver vehicles as it is, all of which tend to half disappear in the rain.
The Euros get all the cool bikes because they BUY all the cool bikes.
It's significantly better than the piss-yellow they were marketing last year. It's a beautiful bike that was just waiting for a decent colour range. This is a good start and I'm glad they've bitten the bullet and called it 'beige'!
Remember when Apple made the first beige Macintosh? It was radical then because computers were all black.
or "greige" as jon stewart likes to say.
WTF!?! Europe always gets the cool ish. I've had enough of this blatant discrimination.
Honda doesn't hate you personally, the motivation is purely economic. The CB1000R is manufactured in Italy and the Euro's simply been too strong to make a reasonable case for the bike here, it'd just be too expensive to get the sales Honda would need.
Hi guys,
if you like the "beige" colour, you should like the new Suzuki Bandit 1250 to !
bye ;)
Nice write up Wes...
Glad you guys are still lusting after the CB... keep showing interest and perhaps Honda will release the bike in North America... it's such a massive market and the 900 Hornet (919) was quite popular there.
