Excursion: Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca Corkscrew

MRLScork.jpg
Handed passes to go trackside during MotoGP qualifying last weekend at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca and the combination to the padlock protecting The Corkscrew, we felt positively giddy. Standing less than 10 feet from the riders as they transitioned left to right was even better. Luckily for you, we remembered to take pictures.

Excellent photographs of the corkscrew! The fist one of Rossi is very artsy: "It gives you wings!"

Colin Edwards take on Laguna from DTK has always stuck with me: Its not the corkscrew thats scary, its turn 1. Flat out, nose lifted and turning down to the hairpin. Laguna has it all. Except length.

great piccies, how awesome is the corckskrew?! lucky you for being there.

Absolutely 100% kickass. Great photos.

Great photos! I really need to make this event next year!

Pictures and TV never do the corkscrew justice. The elevation change is just crazy with the inside curb of 8b seeming nearly vertical. Having ridden it on my bike, I can tell you it can only be properly experienced at speed.
