Design Your Own Honda CBR600RR
Honda has launched an online design app for its CBR600RR. It's a fun, if clunky program, that while containing somewhat limited customizability, manages to emphasize the fundamental rightness of the bike's design and the complete wrongness of its stock graphics (especially that awful chicken one). Always wondered what the CBR might look like shorn of its weird take on Honda's wing? Done. What about color-matched wheels? Done too. In fact we're amazed at the transformative effect both modifications make to the 600.
At this point we'd love to tell you that Honda will sell you your graphics on custom printed vinyl specifically tailored to the CBR's bodywork. But it won't, so we can't, which is a crying shame.
The Design Your CBR app lives on a natty little micro site devoted to both the CBR600RR and CBR1000RR that's well intentioned -- involving potential buyers in CBR's illustrious history is a good idea -- but ultimately very sparse, only offering the aforementioned design app, a photo gallery, an incredibly basic timeline and a couple of videos. As former owners of several CBRs, we could probably tell you more about Honda sportsbike history over a half pint than all of the material on the site ever could.
