Return to hardcore: the 2009 Kawasaki ZX-6R
Update: The 2009 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R has been officially unveiled. And yes, it looks just like we said it would. Click here for information, images and analysis. To put it nicely, the current ZX-6R is a bit disappointing. Compared to rivals like the CBR600RR, 2009 Triumph Daytona 675 and 2008 Yamaha R6 — three of the best motorcycles ever made — the Kawasaki looks bloated, is overweight and underperforming, especially in the handling department. With a new model due next year, expect Kawasaki to pull out all the stops in order to compete.
Inspiration will be drawn from the current ZX-10R, so handling should
be sharp, to say the least, while the exhaust will move down low,
GP-style. As per usual, also expect to see less weight and more power.
The bike we'd like to see would represent a return to the quasi-exotic
2003/4 ZX-6R, which had a reputation as challenging, but ultimately
incredibly fast. That model transcended the 600cc class (and not just
with its 636cc capacity) to become not just one of the most desirable
bikes of the time, but of the decade.via MotoRevue

finally, back to the top.
what an improvement to the old bike.
butt will it lose at least 10kg? to be back with the 675 600rr and the r6?
i hope so.
great bike
is this really the new zx6r?
Great!! Hardly wait to see it on the road! Does anyone know available colours?
A LOT BETTER DESIGN. I think I may trade in my R6 for a black one!
wear can we find the aftermarket exhaust on the top pic?
everyone the new zx10 looks shockingly bad and now the zx6 has gone the same way. i know its my opinion but i just cant stand there design. i see people on them and the older ones look sooooo much better!! performance mey be better but how much difference does this really make on the road?? come on.
I agree with you dude. In my opinion Kawasaki are doing a great job at ruining the bike. Performance might be better but these new models are far less eyecatching than the latter ones. I personally prefer the 05/06 model.
i agree with all of you.
i had the same opinion, that old model was better.
but now, after 2 months from the first look...
maybe all of you have already change opinion.
that also is the goal of all companies. to make all of us, to want the new models. no?
we just finished our first endurance race on the 09.
it's way better than the 07-08.
it's godawful fast and lighter too.
i'll take the 09 any day of the week.
