James Toseland BKS leathers are biodiverse, available in limited numbers
The first product of a relaunched BKS (the company's under Frank Thomas ownership now), these James Toseland replica leathers are made from the skins of stingrays, kangaroos and cows. In order to raise the profile of the launch, the suits are being made available at the relatively low price of £800 and in limited numbers; just three suits are being allocated to each of BKS's 52 UK dealers.
Each of the three types of leather has been chosen for its unique
properties. Stingray is used to cover hard moldings on the shoulders
and knees in order to reduce friction in a slide and therefore the
tendency of the rider to flip. Kangaroo was chosen for the main body
section to reduce weight, necessary because all the arms, the seat, hips and most of the legs are covered in a double layer of thick
cow skin for maximum abrasion resistance.
