2009 BMW S1000RR is official
Update: The 2010 BMW S1000RR production model has been fully unveiled. Click here to see it.Originally codenamed the K46, BMW released photos to the German press this morning of what is now called the S1000RR. Dates for when the bike will be hitting dealer floors is still unknown, though homologation rules give BMW until December. BMW has also said the road version is to have traction control. We think it looks fantastic with subtle touches of German flourish. That said, we're curious to see how BMW incorporates its trademark offset headlights. No word on heated grips either. (UPDATE: a transcript from BMW's General Director has been released, stating that only 1000 S1000RR's will be built by the end of next year.)

It is kind of odd to see what look to be standard forks on a beemer.
Racers are raised on feedback from forks. For BMW to ditch the hossack-style front suspension means they're serious about giving their racers exactly what they need to win. At least that's what I'm telling myself.
Good god, that thing looks badass. Too bad I'll never be able to afford one!
Maybe not, but look at it this way. Right now we are in a renaissance of small numbered exotic homologation bikes- the S1000RR, the Aprilia RSV-4, the KTM RC8, the 1098R. The last time a company, (besides Ducati), made something this cool was the Yamaha YZF-R7. And before that you have to go way back to the days of the Honda RC45 and NSR750, or the Suzuki RGV-500R.
Just be glad they're out there.
It's going to be good to see a Bimmer (as well as Aprilla & KTM) on a race track again among the usual suspects

Bad Ass is right! I actually spoke with my dealer today (11/28) and he is saying that bmw is going to make this wicked machine affordable! He told me that bmw wants to sell this bikes for $13,000.00+. That way they blow away sushitzki,hyndi,and yamahaul!

Let's see how this unit will perform in superbike, I'm sure it will turn heads like it did to me. My first look was tonight dec.06/08 I love the look of this s1000rr and find it's kinda cbr looking 07 that is, I'm riding a 1000rr 07 hope to see one at the Toronto bike show
